Almost a Year has gone by!!
We have gotten a phone call from the social worker to schedule our post placement visit to mark the 1 year anniversary of our final adoption in Pskov. Hard to believe its been that long, but then it also feels like he has been ours forever. Again, proof that time flies by, days, months and years amazing how quickly it goes.
Parent Teacher Conference
Wow, nothing proves that we are school kid parents quite like parent teacher conferences. Somehow I really hadn't thought about teacher conferences in light of me sitting across the table from my son's teacher. That was always my mom's place not mine. There are times I don't even feel my own age. Ahhh well so goes time and years, marching right on by.
Brayden's teacher is impressed with him, he has good attention span and attention to directions and details. His report card looks great. She loves to hear his stories and he loves to tell them. He has good class participation and seems to have good friendships.
Since the conferences four mom's have gotten together and made a schedule of days that we can each be in the classroom to help out. There are 21 kids in the room and during reading time in the morning there just isn't enough adult supervision to go around. Our teacher didn't even have enough time to test the kids on everything listed on the report card. I have enjoyed being in the classroom the last two weeks and have learned that I don't make too bad a teacher at all, in limited quantities of course. :-)
Braxton started speech therapy last week. I was disappointed that it wasn't a longer session and I hope it gets better with time. I was surprised that the actual therapy session with him was only about 15 min and I hope that now that I know what the routine will be, perhaps she will spend time with him now. He is really struggling to make the sounds for words and doesn't care to keep trying. I really think it has roots in his lack of chewing and his continued struggle with chewing meat and harder foods. He still doesn't care to chew much, maybe with some extra encouragement he will have the desire too. I will be so very glad when he can talk, it will make his life sooo much easier. For now we are very thankful for the huge strides he has made and we continue to look for new ones.
It is getting colder here, actually snowing a bit today. Won't be long and we will have to admit winter is really here. It will be time to get busy on scrapbooks and school memory books and photo albums. At least I hope I can get busy with them.
