Weekend continued

We visited Lake Minatare as well. And Miss America was also in the parade since she is from Gering NE...imagine that!!!

My 20th Class Reunion

Last weekend was my 20 year class reunion, in many ways it is very hard to believe it has been that long. We had a great time, the boys were very good and had lots of kids to play with. I got to ride a float in the Oregon Trail Days Parade that we used to go watch as kids, I used to think it would be so fun. In reality, it was VERY HOT not to mention long even with an umbrella. I don't know that I would ride in it again, but for one time down the street it was great. I remember there being a lot more spectators than there were, but there were plenty of kids lining the route. After the parade we went to eat in an airconditioned building, thank goodness for airconditioning. After that we took a drive out to the country where I grew up, past the school I attended K-8th grade. Lots of memories were shared and we had lots of fun doing it. We didn't get as much time with family and friends as we would have liked. There just is never enough time to do it all especially in one weekend. To those we missed, we are sorry and hope to see you sometime soon.

Friday of convention

Friday of convention brought our little boy's 3rd birthday. He is so tall that its hard to believe he is only 3. He has been wearing 3T clothing now for a while and will soon be moving onto 4T. We are always amazed at how much he grows and then how much he eats. His whole world still revolves around EAT. His speech is still coming along. We will need to continue to work on it through the summer and we hope that all the exercises we try will work and make it better. I hope Brayden can also be a help with talking and pronunciating. All in all, he is a normal growing little boy and we are so glad to have him in our lives.

Field Trip and Final day

Last Week of School

Finally the last week of school has come and gone. They had Monday off for Memorial Day, Tues was a regular school day and Wed was a field trip day and today was the final pack it up and track and field play day. I went on the field trip yest tho I had to drive with another mom. We couldn't ride the bus which was a bit of an issue. I am sure it has to do with their insurance, but really it is so rediculous because it means they don't have enough adults for all the kids they have. There were approx 45 kids with three employed adults and two moms. It was crazy at the park for lunch, the kids didn't necessarily eat very well and there weren't enough adults to make sure they ate anything before they ran off to play on all the cool equipment. After a short time, the kids were all gone and the adults were all still in the picnic shelter cleaning up the mess. With all the extra adults in the park having nothing to do with us, plus all the extra kids, we could have lost a kiddo and the staff not even known a thing about it till they counted noses on the bus. For safety alone I was terribly unimpressed. In fact the two moms removed their kiddos when it was time for us to leave. The rest of the students were staying at the park for another hour or so, but we brought our kids home with us. Today I went up at 1 for the awards program. Brayden got an award for running 22 miles this year during recess. He didn't get any attendance awards, lots of sick days and some skipped days for trips. Having a child in school however, does tie us down a bit more. After the awards we went outside for the track and field games. They balanced a golf ball on a tennis racket and ran about 12 yards down the grass around a cone and back, the carried a baton down and back, then they had to have a team of two kids straddling a noodle one on each end run down around the cone and back, bean bag toss into a bucket, and finally several rousing games of tug of war. The Kindergarten class pulled the teachers across, they didnt' try very hard but the kids really dug in. The last game we tied a balloon to each childs ankle and then they ran after each other trying to step on the balloons and pop them. Last one standing with their balloon still whole won. I don't think we actually had a winner on that one. We had hugs and pics with Mrs. Pattison and then headed home. Summer vacation is finally here. Oh, we start swim lessons monday. He goes on the bus for two weeks to Lander for swimming. He really loves it and its a good transition into being home more. Time for the parents to get the list of daily chores made up for the summer. We need to build responsibility and a little bit of work into kiddos lives. Will be good for them, tho I bet we hear some complaining. Looking forward to shutting off the alarm and not waking up to beeping for several weeks. I am beginning to be more of a morning person all the time, but I still like to get enough sleep.
