Tuesday

Tuesday morning, we had a pretty good day yest, the little guy was pretty responsive to us so it went well. Now this morning we had a phone call from home at a little before 8:00 a.m. here. We were soo glad to talk to Brayden and Granny. He was in a way better mood this morning, laughing and was really hyped up. Actually feel sorry for them having to put that to bed, but it was a real lift for mama and daddy to know he was doing better. He had been pretty sober up till now. That was making it hard for us, he wouldn't even laugh when we tried to tease on the phone, so thanks for the huge pick up Granny!! Ludmilla came at 9 this morning to take us back to the orphanage. I don't have the info from Dr yet on his opinion or anything, will hope to get that while I am blogging today. So no pics yet, still getting info put together. The little guy wasn't nearly so responsive this morning, he did eat some applesauce that I bought yest and took with us. Then I think his tummy was full and he was ok to play for a bit but then was tired and ready to sleep. He actually fell asleep in my arms at the end of our visit. He is drooling a lot so am guessing he is teething too, and he felt warm to me. So he may not have felt real good this morning either. He wanted to be held today and that was opposite of yest when he just wanted to sit on the floor in front of us and play with us. Not much for smiles today. The weather is better today, sunny with a slight breeze. There are a few high clouds now, but not rainy like it has been the last couple of days. Yest was rainy and cool out, I wore my jacket most of the morning on our little jaunts here and there. We are walking a lot, cheaper that way and really enjoyable too. Roger is having a bit of a hard time adjusting his inner clock. :-) He is sleeping now as I write this and its just 10 till 1 in the afternoon here but its 10 till 3 a.m. there, so he just needs a rest. Its almost never dark here at night. We were sitting here in our living room last night at 10 p.m and it was still light as though it was 7 p.m. at home. We go to bed anyway and go to sleep anyway, but its only dark for a few hours because at around 3:30 - 4 am. its getting light again. Makes it tough for Roger to sleep. We could pull the drapes, but it is HOT too, so the windows need to be open all night full open, and the drapes would block the airflow. Catch 22. The hotel was mostly empty till yest, then it filled right up. WE noticed the hot water isn't boiling out the tap anymore and there is some cold water available now. Guess enough hot water is being used now with more rooms full. We are eating one meal a day out and the rest in our room from the grocery store. Its working out quite well. I might be really sick of sandwiches by the time we come home, but the restaurants just aren't readily available to us right here. Ludmilla pointed out the Mall, best shopping in the city to us on the way back to the motel today, so we will hike over there today and see what we shall see. It is two story, with a few restaurants on the top floor so will check that out. It is very green and lots of trees here, most people have huge gardens if they have yard space at all. In fact lots of yards are totally garden and nothing else. They aren't clean of weeds, so its all green. Lots of potatoes grown here, cabbage and squash. We bought fruit at a sidewalk vendor yest, might buy some veggies there or at another one today. We can find fresh tomatoes, cucs, peppers, cherries, peaches, grapes, wild blueberries and strawberries, watermelon, and many others. Hard to buy from them as I see the sign for how many rubles, but don't know what weight they are using. We would use lb in the US, but they may be using gram formats. Hard to really have perspective on actual cost of things that way. We bought 680 rubles worth of groceries the first time to the store, that was a loaf of bread, 2 carrots, 1 red pepper, 1 cucumber, 2 4slice paks of meat, 1 pak of sliced cheese, pouch of mayo, 1 1/2 gal jug of water, med bag of potato chips, I think that was all, breakfast at the motel yest morning cost 400 rubles. There is about 31 rubles to an american dollar for those that want to figure that out. :-) Obviously the store is cheaper. We don't want to miss out on experiences though either, so doing some of both. Most of the stores, internet cafes etc don't open till at least 10 a.m. and some close later than others, internet closes at 9 p.m. We notice that people really come out of the woodwork about 7 in the evening and stay out till 10 or 11 then go to bed, but are really slow to come out in the morning. Has some to do with the heat and humidity. Being outside is comfy enough, but go in a store and you absolutely swelter!! Not too many use fans and of course swamp coolers wouldn't do anything more than add drip to everything. There aren't many airconditioners seen around either. Nothing in the hotel room thats for sure, and I would have loved a fan. They don't believe in screens I guess, didn't have them in Omsk either, so the birds can fly right in your room if you leave the windows open and aren't here to disturb them. There is a note in the window here that discourages leaving them open when one is not in the room. That could make a mess I guess. Best let this be it for now, I need to get to the internet cafe and see if I can check email and get stuff posted. Perhaps by tomorrow we will be ready to introduce you to the little one we have been visiting. Best to wait for Pediatrician clearance!!
